Police Official Detained
In a criminal case being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, factual data has been obtained regarding illegal entrepreneurial activities organized and conducted by employees of a passenger transport company, through several drivers operating vehicles between Armavir city and Yerevan and vice versa, without special permits.
The pre-investigation has revealed that the illegal activities were coordinated by S. H. and G. E., who performed duties as dispatchers in the bus station area of Armavir city and had close ties with A. S., the deputy head of the patrol service of the Armavir police department.
Upon learning about the aforementioned activities conducted without special permits, A. S. demanded bribes from S. H. and G. E. for their apparent illegal inactivity, specifically for not preventing or uncovering the administrative violations. As a result, between December 2021 and April 2022, S. H. and G. E. collected and provided a total of 220,000 Armenian drams in bribes to A. S., part of which was transferred to A. S.’s electronic wallet via payment terminals on various days, at his request.
A. S. has been charged under part 2 of Article 311 of the RA Criminal Code, while S. H. and G. E. have been charged under part 1 of Article 436 of the active RA Criminal Code.
On November 3, 2022, A. S., S. H., and G. E. were arrested by an investigator from the Anti-Corruption Committee. On November 4, 2022, a motion was filed to the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction for the detention of A. S. as a restrictive measure, which was granted.
The pre-investigation continues. This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
