Kyiv is Developing a Plan to Capture Crimea: The Daily Beast
The administration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is developing a plan to capture Crimea, with Tamila Tashova, the representative of Ukraine in Crimea, appointed as the person responsible for the initiative. This is reported by the American publication The Daily Beast.
According to Tashova, the implementation of the plan will also be aided by an underground network of informants in Crimea. At the same time, she identified the "political and diplomatic path" as well as "military components" as key mechanisms for the strategy to capture the peninsula.
Ukrainian intelligence services believe that Kyiv will be able to capture Crimea by spring or summer 2023. However, Tashova thinks this could happen sooner. She also noted that the timelines for the implementation of this plan are still unclear.
The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported that if Ukraine takes the strategically and diplomatically significant city of Kherson, then peace negotiations "from a position of strength" could be possible. According to the newspaper, Washington and NATO are already discussing such developments.
