In Yerevan, the 'Russian House' presented Lake Sevan as 'Gokche'
In Yerevan, the 'Russian House' posted on its Facebook page a message referring to Lake Sevan as 'Gokche'. Although the post was later edited, the false name has yet to be removed. Naturally, many users reacted negatively.
Instead of backing down or admitting to the mistake, 'Russian House' responded with another post stating that the reference was about the 19th-century official vocabulary of Russia.
As noted, 'This area was described by the famous Russian historian, General Vasily Alexandrovich Potto, in his essays, legends, and biographies about the Caucasian War.
It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned organization aims to develop cultural ties between Armenia and Russia, but in this instance, distorting Armenian history only harms bilateral relations and fosters negative attitudes within Armenian society.
