Stepan Galstyan Transferred to Hospital
The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Lieutenant General Stepan Galstyan, who was detained at the "Kentron" penitentiary, has been transferred to the "Erebuni" Medical Center. This was reported to 24News by Galstyan's lawyer, Andranik Manukyan.
The lawyer stated that Galstyan is receiving inpatient treatment under medical supervision, and his condition is critical. Andranik Manukyan did not disclose the exact illness affecting his client. However, the former official is conscious and is not in the intensive care unit.
"I am preparing to apply to the court for a change in Stepan Galstyan's measure of restraint," said the lawyer.
It is noteworthy that on October 2, 2021, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Karen Farkhoyan, issued a decision to detain Galstyan. The general was detained in connection with ongoing criminal proceedings regarding abuses and large-scale embezzlement in the process of supplying military ammunition for the needs of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
