Armenian Gymnast Sets Age Record at World Championships

“Second World bronze and the oldest medalist in world championships: We bow down to you, Harutyun Merdinyan,” is written on the official Twitter page of the World Championships.

Harutyun Merdinyan, the 38-year-old leader of the Armenian national team, has set an age record at the World Championships. He is the oldest athlete in history to win a medal at world artistic gymnastics championships, according to the championship's press service.

Merdinyan noted that for him, age is just a number; he feels good and can continue to compete for medals, expressing pride in being able to win numerous medals for Armenia.

At the World Championships held in Liverpool, the two-time European champion Merdinyan secured a bronze medal in the parallel bars event, marking the second time in his career he has achieved this.
