Large Quantities of Explosive Materials Discovered at Customs Terminal: Badasyan

The Armenian Customs Committee (PЕК) has discovered large quantities of explosive materials at one of its customs terminals. This information was today announced by the Chairman of the PЕК, Rustam Badasyan, during a session at the National Assembly.

Following the tragic incident at Surmalu, the PЕК has conducted inspections aimed at ensuring the safety of explosive materials within its operational framework.

“It is not that this constituted a specific source of danger, but we are now working to transfer these goods to a safer location,” Badasyan stated.

The head of the PЕК reminded that, according to the law, vehicles carrying explosive and flammable materials should be allowed to pass through customs promptly. However, there have been cases recorded during inspections where such vehicles were waiting in line.

“The issue was that this vehicle had come from an EAEU country and needed to go through certain procedures that required standing in line. We focused on this issue so that, as stipulated by law, they can pass through the customs checkpoint quickly,” Badasyan added.
