This Cannot Be Justification: U.S. State Department on Russia's Suspension of Grain Deal Participation
The U.S. Department of State insists that the attack on ships by the Black Sea Fleet cannot serve as a legitimate basis for suspending Russia's participation in the grain deal. This was stated by Ned Price, the head of the press service of the U.S. foreign policy department, as reported by TASS.
“From our perspective and that of countries around the world, this (the attack on the ships) cannot serve as justification. Whatever arguments Russia may present do not take into account that this is a blockade that complicates the delivery of grain to those countries in the world that are in dire need of it,” Price said.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the suspension of participation in the grain deal. Russian specialists working in the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, where the control process of Ukrainian food shipments is taking place, have already received corresponding directives.
