Ukrainian Woman Accuses British Host of Modern Slavery Over Dishwashing Request
A Ukrainian refugee has accused her British host of modern slavery after the host asked her to wash the dishes. This incident has been reported by the Daily Mail.
The incident took place in Ackfield, where 42-year-old Hannah Debenham, a mental health specialist with the National Health Service, took in refugees on the condition that the Ukrainian woman would work as a nanny.
Debenham reported that everything was fine in the first two months, but gradually conflicts began to arise between them. In particular, the refugee did not wash the dishes after herself, which was unacceptable to the host. It escalated to the point where the 'guest' would take a clean glass every time she wanted to drink water.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, the Ukrainian was instructed on how to use the dishwasher, but the situation did not change. It is noted that this was not the only cause of the conflict. At one point, the 'guest' created a scandal because the host refused to take her out.
“She slammed the door in my face. And I just thought, ‘Wow, how can she treat me like this,’” Debenham said.
