No 'Washington' Project, There Are Azerbaijani and Russian Proposals – Edmon Marukyan

I officially announce that there is no 'Washington' project. This was stated by Edmon Marukyan, the special envoy of the Prime Minister, during a broadcast on Public TV. He addressed the circulating media reports about several proposals for the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, one of which is supposedly offered by the USA.

Marukyan noted that what is currently on the table is what has been passed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to the Armenian side in Geneva.

“There is no Washington project, there is no Western project. I say this officially: there is an Azerbaijani proposal for a peace treaty that has been given to the Armenian side, which the Armenian side has been working on during this time. The work has been completed, and there will be discussions at the upcoming meeting. The Armenian side will present its positions, and there will be a discussion,” he said.

Marukyan also touched upon the Russian proposal, noting that they were transmitted to the Armenian side back in September, to which there was a positive response. “Now we are waiting for the Russian side to insist on its proposal at the upcoming meeting in Sochi, and Azerbaijan will agree,” Marukyan mentioned. He stated that the Russian co-chair Igor Khovaev was in Armenia during the September aggression, but to this day, the Russian side has not responded to the Azerbaijani aggression in a targeted manner.
