VIDEO: Tensions Rise in Iran as People Take to the Streets Again

Protests continue to surge in Iran as large crowds gather in various regions of the country to pay tribute to Mahsa Amini, who was killed by security forces and has become a symbol of the protests. Today marks the 40th day since the girl's death.

Footage of the protests is being circulated online. It is important to remember that Mahsa Amini was a 22-year-old resident of Iran's northwestern Kurdistan province, who was arrested by Iran's morality police for allegedly improper hijab wearing. After being taken from a police station, she was moved to a hospital where she later died. The police confirmed that she had indeed been detained, but claimed that she suffered a heart attack and died two days later in a coma, according to the official narrative.

The tragedy that unfolded in society has sparked significant outrage, prompting thousands to take to the streets and organize mass protests.
