VIDEO: How Ksenia Sobchak Crossed the Belarus-Lithuania Border After Becoming a Suspect in Extortion Case
Footage has emerged showing how Ksenia Sobchak crossed the Belarus-Lithuania border on foot after it became known that the journalist had become a suspect in an extortion case involving the state corporation Rostec.
Earlier, it was reported that the police had conducted a search at Sobchak's suburban Moscow residence. According to sources, the law enforcement operations are part of a criminal case opened against Sobchak's commercial director Kirill Sukhanov on extortion charges. The television star herself holds no status in this case.
Sukhanov was arrested yesterday, and Sobchak has described his arrest as another instance of pressure on journalism in the country. "They have no reason to stick to me, and that irritates them. They keep arresting my journalists, and now they have gone after Kirill and are fabricating a case against him," the television star responded.
Ksenia Sobchak heads the holding company “Ostorzno, Media,” which includes a network of Telegram news channels, a podcast studio, and YouTube channels. She is the daughter of Anatoly Sobchak, a political godfather of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and has recently been positioning herself as an opposition figure.
