Xi Jinping Re-elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has re-elected Xi Jinping as General Secretary for a third term. The voting took place during the first plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Party, as reported by the Xinhua News Agency.
Xi Jinping has also been appointed as the chairman of the Party's Central Military Commission during the plenary session.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko have already congratulated Xi Jinping on his appointment as General Secretary.
