Mobile Communication Prices Expected to Rise in Russia: Reasons Revealed

Mobile communication operators will inevitably have to increase tariffs in 2023 due to the current inflation rate, announced Vyacheslav Cheglov, a professor at the Department of Trade Policy named after G.V. Plekhanov, according to RIA Novosti.

According to him, Russian operators will attempt to grow based on existing customers rather than attracting foreign investments.

The expert clarified that major Russian operators, including Megafon, MTS, VimpelCom, and Rostelecom, have divided the market among themselves. In large cities of Russia, the necessary mobile communication infrastructure has already been established, but new equipment is required in rural areas, typically involving expensive imported devices.
