Life Gets Tough for Europeans as Inflation Sets New Records
Inflation in Europe continues to rise at a rapid pace. In September, it has once again set new records, reaching almost 10% in the eurozone and nearly 11% on average in the European Union. By the numbers, Europe is already in a recession.
Millions of Europeans are feeling the impact in their wallets, forced to give up on simple things. "Sometimes, when I go grocery shopping, for example, when the oil runs out, I feel uncomfortable having to buy a more expensive product, because there really is very little money," one citizen shared. "I try to save on various daily expenses, such as cancelling my internet contract, and I am seriously considering moving to a cheaper rental apartment."
This has been echoed by numerous citizens.
In France, mass strikes have already occurred due to high inflation; however, according to Eurostat, the situation there is still bearable, with prices having risen by "only" 6.4 percent. The highest rates are found in the Baltic States, with annual figures ranging from 22 to 24%.
