Long Live Armenia, Long Live Iran: Speech of Iran's Foreign Minister
The decision of the Iranian government to establish a consulate in Kapan is a manifestation of the importance that the Iranian government and people attach to the millennia-old relations between Iran and Armenia. This was stated by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian during the opening of the Iranian consulate in Kapan, the administrative center of Syunik.
"Iran considers the security of Armenia and the region as part of its own security. Our policy is to respect territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders," said the foreign minister.
Abdollahian emphasized the steps aimed at further developing trade and economic relations between the two countries. "Syunik is considered one of the most important sections of the North-South corridor; we regard Armenia as one of the key countries on this North-South highway and we will make every effort to enhance the transportation of goods and passengers along this transit route. Long live Armenia, long live Iran, long live the friendship of the two countries," said the Iranian foreign minister.
