Syria's Foreign Ministry Reveals the Real Cause of the Situation in Ukraine

The real cause of the ongoing events in Ukraine is the West's desire to impose its conditions and its hostile attitude towards Russia, said Faisal Mekdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, on Thursday.

"What is happening today in Ukraine once again demonstrates the tendencies of Western imposition and hostile actions against the Russian Federation, its security, and stability. This is the real reason for the situation in Ukraine," Mekdad stated during an interagency joint meeting.

He clarified that the attempts by Western countries to interfere in the internal affairs of other states violate not only the management of their own wealth and future but also all norms of international law and the UN Charter.

"In fully embracing this, I reaffirm Syria's support for the Russian special military operation and the right of the Russian Federation to defend and protect its national security," Mekdad emphasized.
