West Angered by Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's 'Heartfelt' Relationship: Bloomberg
The West is upset due to the 'heartfelt' relationship between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Ankara is now becoming an important partner for Moscow, which is limited in many areas by sanctions, reports Bloomberg.
Accordingly, U.S. officials have been holding discussions with Turkish officials regarding the enforcement of economic restrictions imposed on Russia. 'This can be seen as the West's latest move aimed at persuading Ankara to adopt a tougher stance towards Moscow,' experts note.
The U.S. delegation has also met with the head of Turkey's Central Bank and representatives of business groups from Ankara and Istanbul. Meetings are scheduled with representatives of the country's Ministry of Finance.
