Cavusoglu Should Speak on His Own Behalf, Says Ararat Mirzoyan
The Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan insists that Azerbaijan is not offering a route that would have the same regulations as the Lachin corridor. Mirzoyan made this statement during a briefing with Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt, in response to Sputnik Armenia’s observation regarding Turkey’s Foreign Minister’s claim that Azerbaijan states that the Lachin corridor and the 'Zangezur corridor' should have the same status.
“If Mr. Cavusoglu is introducing this component in the negotiations, it would be better if he speaks on his own behalf. I reiterate, Azerbaijan is not saying such a thing, nor can any party justifiably claim such,” said the Armenian Foreign Minister.
He recalled the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021, which discuss the Lachin corridor and the unblocking of transportation and economic infrastructures in the region.
“We have stated our position regarding the new route between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, and it has not changed— all roads must operate, including existing and presumably newly constructed ones. They will operate under the sovereignty and legislation of the countries through which they pass,” said Mirzoyan.
The Minister believes that negotiations on unblocking the region will be successfully concluded in the near future.
