VIDEO: Vladimir Vardanyan on Incident with Turkish and Azerbaijani Delegates at PACE
The recent incident at the PACE session was due to the fact that the meeting was officially chaired by the head of the Turkish delegation, who, starting with issues related to Greece, tried to position himself not as the chair of that specific session but as the head of the Turkish delegation, which inevitably led to the incident.
This was stated by the member of the Armenian National Assembly, Vladimir Vardanyan, during a briefing with journalists, referring to the interruption of Hayk Mamijanyan's speech and the intervention of the Armenian delegation. He emphasized that the Armenian delegation responded clearly to the incident.
“In my opinion, both the secretariat and the presidency of PACE have understood the reasons for the incident. It was clear that the Turks and Azerbaijanis were dissatisfied; this time they were left in complete isolation, regardless of whether the reporter was saying pleasant or unpleasant things for us. No one should have the opportunity to interrupt the speech of the representative of Armenia at any international platform,” Vardanyan said.
