US Demands Azerbaijani Armed Forces Return to Initial Positions
The United States opposes the incursion of Azerbaijani forces into Armenian sovereign territory and demands that Azerbaijani armed units return to their initial positions. This was stated by David Price, the Chairman of the House Democratic Partnership Committee, during a press conference at the National Assembly.
“These are difficult times for Armenia. Tragic events have occurred, and the memory of the victims of the conflict is still fresh, yet another flare-up has taken place. Bipartisan, bicameral efforts are being put forth by the U.S., particularly regarding the return of prisoners,” he said. “It is the role of the U.S. to guide the international community towards a resolution of this long-standing conflict.”
Price also praised the efforts of the Armenian National Assembly aimed at anti-corruption reforms and strengthening democracy. The Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Eduard Aghajanyan, noted that the visit of the U.S. delegation should be viewed as another phase in the dynamic development of Armenian-American relations. “We discussed a broad range of issues with our partners, including security concerns and challenges surrounding our country,” Aghajanyan said.
David Price is accompanied by House members Diana DeGette, Jim Cooper, and Andy Levin.
