Charles Michel on Rapid Deployment of EU Mission at Armenian-Azerbaijani Border

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has welcomed the rapid deployment of an EU civilian mission at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. He made this statement on Twitter.

Michel expressed hope that this would contribute to building trust and further support the delimitation commissions, which are set to meet soon in Brussels.

Earlier reports indicated that up to 40 EU monitoring experts would be deployed by Armenia for the civilian observation mission along the border, aimed at monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the situation.

To ensure the quick deployment of the EU observation mission, it has been decided to involve monitoring experts from the EU monitoring mission in Georgia.

The observation mission is temporary and, according to the European Council, will not last more than two months.
