Video: Transferred Information about His Unit and Combat Position to Foreign Special Services

The Department of Military Counterintelligence of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has conducted extensive and coordinated operational-intelligence measures. It has been determined that a citizen of Armenia, who was serving as a contractor in a military unit of the Ministry of Defense, had the official capacity to access state and service secrets.

Through the social network 'Odnoklassniki,' he became acquainted with an individual who works for foreign special services. This person recruited him, and from January to June 2022, he maintained contact with them through his account, during which he handed over various documents containing state and service secrets about his unit for remuneration. These documents included information regarding the names of combat positions, communication routes, command observation posts of the battalion, inter-position distances, their armament, and more, thus committing state betrayal against the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and external security of the Republic of Armenia.

Following the incident, the investigative department of the National Security Service of Armenia initiated criminal proceedings. The mentioned citizen has been arrested and has provided a confession. He has been formally charged, and a motion has been submitted to the court to apply detention as a precautionary measure.

The National Security Service of Armenia once again urges military personnel to refrain from establishing contacts with suspicious individuals through social networks or other means and to avoid transferring military-related information to them.
