Video: We are ready, but the President of Azerbaijan objects - Pashinyan

In the context of unblocking all regional communications, the constant circulation of the "corridor topic" by Azerbaijan is nothing more than a distortion and sabotage of the implementation of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at the regular session of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS on October 14.

He also noted, "I want to emphasize that in the 9th point of this declaration, the word 'corridor' is not mentioned anywhere or in any way. In the declaration of November 9, 2020, the word 'corridor' is used only concerning the Lachin corridor in the context of ensuring the security of Artsakh and has nothing to do with the topic of unblocking transport communications, and we consider any parallels between these agreements manipulative.

Unfortunately, the exploitation of the text of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, has become Azerbaijan's policy, and it is also expressed by the fact that despite the explicit mention of the existence of Artsakh in the declaration, Azerbaijan insists that there is no Artsakh.

Regarding the implementation of the 9th point of the tripartite declaration, this issue is fully clarified in the subsequent tripartite declaration of January 11, 2021, in Moscow. Moreover, the trilateral working group, co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, and the Russian Federation, has decided that the restored and constructed transport infrastructures must operate under the full sovereignty of the countries they pass through.

I officially declare that we are ready for the prompt opening of roads on this basis. Moreover, a draft government decision to open three checkpoints to ensure transport communication between Azerbaijan's western regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has long been in official circulation; however, it is the President of Azerbaijan who opposes such a decision. This is related to Azerbaijan's desire to isolate transport routes and the movement of people, goods, and transport as much as possible, which indicates that they are not interested in establishing stable peace in the region.

Regarding the construction of new transport communications, we are also ready for that based on the aforementioned principles, and Azerbaijan's aggressive policy and exploitation of the texts of the tripartite declarations hinder that.

Azerbaijan is trying to create the impression that the construction of new roads is Armenia's obligation, but the trilateral declaration states that the parties must agree on this issue. And we are ready for such an agreement; moreover, we are interested in it, and the only thing we expect from Azerbaijan on this issue is constructiveness.

I also want to respond to some statements made by the President of Azerbaijan. Regarding landmining, that is entirely taking place in the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. And it is our right to undertake any safety measures to defend our territorial integrity.

I also want to say that attempts to give a religious context to this situation are unacceptable. We are in very close relations with many Muslim countries, and a vivid example of this is that most of our allies in the CSTO are Muslim countries. We have very close and intimate relationships with Iran and many Arab countries, and the Nagorno-Karabakh issue has never had a religious basis.

I am simply astonished by the statements of the President of Azerbaijan that Armenia has organized attacks on Azerbaijan's embassies in European countries and the United States. These are completely unfounded statements, and I think it is obvious that if such facts existed, Azerbaijan would have long since published them.

In general, I want to say that Armenia is genuinely eager for peace in the region. Of course, this is not a simple issue; it is a very profound problem, but it seemed to me that through the mediation of President Vladimir Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation and other international leaders, we have a common understanding that we should strive for and undertake concrete steps to establish peace and stability in our region. It is clear that steps are needed for this, and the Republic of Armenia, I believe, as we have shown, our government is ready for such steps. Once again, I want to say that the only expectation we have from Azerbaijan in this process is constructiveness. Thank you!
