We Will Not Act Against Our Own Interests: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia will not supply energy resources to countries at prices they impose. "Russia will not act against common sense and will not pay for someone else's prosperity at its own expense," stated Putin during his speech at the "Russian Energy Week" conference.

According to Gulf News, the US is trying to garner support from market participants for limiting Russian oil prices in order to deprive Moscow of revenues from energy resources. However, while the G7 countries supported these efforts, others, such as India and China, continued to be major consumers of Russian oil, and several developing countries refused to take a firm stance against Russia.

"To those who prefer deceitful traps and outright blackmail over practical relations and market mechanisms, I want to say that we will not act against our own interests. Keep that in mind," said Putin.

The Russian president also stated that the incident involving the Nord Stream gas pipeline is undoubtedly an act of international terrorism. He noted that the Nord Streams are devoid of political context, as they are purely commercial projects, and their fate should be jointly determined by Russia and its partners.

Putin emphasized that Russia is ready to supply gas and is supplying it at full capacity under existing contracts. "As for Russian gas production, we will undoubtedly place our products in global markets. Their effectiveness is confirmed by projects such as 'Power of Siberia,' and the 'Turkish Stream' operates towards Turkey, with 'Blue Stream' also catering to Turkey's domestic market," said the Russian president.

He clarified that 14 billion cubic meters of gas are currently being supplied to Europe via the 'Turkish Stream.' "It’s not a huge volume, but it is a significant volume," noted Putin.

The Russian president pointed out that Russia always fulfills its obligations, which fundamentally differentiates it from Western countries that have cynically refused to honor contracts already signed in the areas of finance, technology, equipment supply, and maintenance.
