Stepanakert Resident Throws Grenade at Police Officer
A resident of Stepanakert threw a grenade towards police officers, resulting in injuries to a police officer. This information was reported by the press service of the Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The statement mentions that a drug was discovered in the apartment of 32-year-old H.H. When the citizen did not comply with the legal demands of the police officers, he removed the grenade and threatened that he would detonate it if they did not leave his home. He then left the area with the grenade in hand and hid in a forested area adjacent to the "We Are Our Mountains" memorial.
Officers from the Stepanakert city and criminal investigation departments conducted joint search operations. "H.H., noticing the police officers, exited onto the main road and threw the grenade at the police officers," the statement reads.
As a result, police lieutenant Lernik Balasanyan sustained bodily injuries. After providing first aid, an emergency response team transported the officer to the republican medical center. His life is not in danger.
The police have apprehended H.H. and taken him to the Stepanakert city police department. An investigation is underway.
