Ukrainian-Armenian Voices Discontent Over Embassy Representation in Kyiv

Today, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Armenian embassy in Ukraine is functioning normally while adhering to necessary security regulations. Following this statement, a member of our community based in Kyiv contacted MediaHub to express their dissatisfaction with the embassy's operations.

The individual questioned why the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not mention that the embassy's work is formal and that they do not respond to the problems and inquiries of Ukrainain Armenians, nor to their phone calls. Moreover, if contact is established with the ambassador, who the caller described as a "very dry and rude person," the first question posed is not about what has happened but rather where the ordinary citizen got their number.

"It feels like there is no war in Ukraine, and the ambassador is merely fulfilling his duties formally from the embassy building. But those duties have nothing to do with his compatriots," the caller commented to the media outlet.

They further addressed the Ministry, saying, "Dear Ministry of Foreign Affairs, can you please take your ambassador from Kyiv and bring someone who is one of us, who will engage with us, instead of... we don't know what." The citizen noted that many Armenians often do not even approach the embassy, perceiving it as a waste of time. The only entity that responds to them is the consulate in Lviv, which is quite active, responsive, and tries to assist and support Armenians as much as possible.

“Many Armenians left Ukraine months ago. Those who have remained, while I won’t say they have accepted their fate, it's something similar; they claim that this is their home and they will not go anywhere, whatever happens,” they said.
