Sister of Fallen Soldier Robert Harapanian Reveals Recognition from Azerbaijani Photos
On the night of September 12-13, 19-year-old soldier Robert Armeni Harapanian lost his life due to the Azerbaijani assault. He was from the town of Byureghavan in the Kotayk Province and had been drafted into the army in February 2021, serving in Goris.
In an interview with NEWS.am, his sister Diana shared that Robert was killed during the battles in the Ishkhanasar direction. On September 20, one of the 95 servicemen's bodies handed over by Azerbaijan to Armenia was identified as Robert's.
"The last time we spoke to Robert was around midnight, before the military operations began. According to his friends, Robert's voice was heard over the radio until 5 AM. We are unaware of the circumstances of his death. We had no news from him; we recognized him in the photos shared by Azerbaijani users on social media," Diana recounted.
Robert was a student at the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport and actively played professional football. He had played for football clubs "Gandzasar" and "Lokomotiv." Robert was the youngest child in the family and had an older sister.
He was buried with military honors on September 23 at the family cemetery.
According to the Ministry of Defense, by September 14 at 8:00 PM, the fire had almost ceased in all directions, and no significant incidents were reported.
