Blinken and Aliyev Have Held a Phone Conversation: What Was Discussed

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone conversation today with Ilham Aliyev. Blinken welcomed the release of 17 Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijan on October 4 and urged Aliyev to continue making tangible steps to support the timeline and peace process.

He reaffirmed U.S. support for border delimitation, transport links, and other related issues. The Secretary emphasized the importance of discussions regarding the rights and guarantees of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the necessity for both sides to support the ceasefire and focus on a path towards lasting peace.
