Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has made an unexpected confession on his Twitter microblog: "I am gay. Please respect me."

In the comments to Casillas' shocking post, former Barcelona defender Carles Puyol wrote: "The time has come for us to tell our story, Iker."

It is worth noting that in 2009, Casillas began dating journalist Sara Carbonero. They got married on March 20, 2016, and have two sons together. However, the couple separated on March 12, 2021, after 12 years together.
