VIDEO. We Will Not Accept Any Document Recognizing Artsakh as Part of Azerbaijan: Rally in Stepanakert

A rally was held in Artsakh demanding the right to self-determination and the unyielding stance of the Armenian population of Artsakh.

According to a report by the Artsakhpress correspondent, the organizers of the "For the Defense of Artsakh" movement and other initiators of the gathering stated that the protest was triggered by Ilham Aliyev's remarks in Prague, claiming that "the Armenians of Artsakh are citizens of Azerbaijan, and those who disagree can go wherever they want."

In a conversation with the website, Tigran Petrosyan, the president of the "Tomorrow's Artsakh" party, informed that the main objective of the gathering was to communicate the clear and unyielding position of the Armenian population of Artsakh to the international community.

“We will not accept any document recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. The Aliyev regime subjects Armenian prisoners of war to brutal execution in front of cameras, tortures women, bombs civilian settlements, and against this backdrop, his statements can mean nothing less than ethnic cleansing. However, the 'civilized' world prefers to remain blind and ignore all these crimes due to fears of being cold this winter, while we are not afraid. We are ready to continue the struggle for independence and the realization of our people’s right to self-determination,” stated Petrosyan, expressing the conviction that the salvation of Artsakh is in the hands of its people.

On October 6, Armenia and Azerbaijan issued a joint statement regarding the results of the meeting held in Prague between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Charles Michel, the President of the European Council.

According to the statement, Armenia has agreed to encourage a civil mission along the border with Azerbaijan. The mission will commence its operations in October, for a duration of up to two months. The purpose of the mission will be to build trust and support the border commissions through their reports.
