Zelensky Calls on NATO to Deliver 'Preventive Strikes' Against Russia to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons Possibility; Russia Responds
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on NATO to deliver 'preventive strikes' to eliminate the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons. This statement was made during a video call with the Lowy Institute in Australia.
“What should NATO do to remove the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons? But what is important, I appeal once again to the international community, as before February 24, to deliver preventive strikes, so that they (Russian authorities) know what will happen to them if they are used. And not the other way around – waiting for Russian nuclear strikes and then saying, ‘Oh, well, okay, you got us,’” said Zelensky.
This statement from the Ukrainian president was responded to by Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov. According to РИА Новости, Peskov stated that “Zelensky's statements are nothing but a call to start a world war, with unpredictable horrific consequences.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry also addressed the Ukrainian president's statement, claiming, “The West is inciting a nuclear war, the unbalanced Zelensky has turned into a monster; his hands could destroy the planet,” stated the Russian foreign policy agency.
