Gegham Manukyan Summoned for Questioning by NSS
According to exclusive information from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has summoned Gegham Manukyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "Armenia" faction, for questioning. He has been invited to clarify details regarding a criminal case related to the presence of Kurdish fighters in Turkey.
Attempts to confirm this information directly with Gegham Manukyan were met with limited detail; he only acknowledged that he had been summoned.
It is important to note that the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper previously reported that a criminal investigation has been launched by the NSS concerning the mysterious arrival of Kurdish fighters in Turkey. The investigation seeks to clarify how two Kurdish fighters, Atilla Chichek and Huseyin Yildirim, ended up in Turkey. Both individuals illegally crossed the border into Armenia on August 16, 2021, via the Araks River.
As a result of their actions, the Court of Appeals in Armenia sentenced them to five years in prison, a sentence that was conditionally suspended with a probation period of three years. The Kurdish fighters were released directly from the courtroom. They had thus enjoyed seven months of freedom, after which they mysteriously reappeared in Turkey. This situation had been reported by Gegham Manukyan, adding urgency to the inquiry.
Further details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
