Armenia Lowers Gun Purchase Age to 21

The National Assembly of Armenia has passed a new law on the regulation of firearms circulation, authored by a group of deputies from the Civil Contract faction, during its second reading in full. According to the new legislation, the rules for acquiring and using firearms for Armenian citizens will be significantly relaxed.

The minimum age for purchasing firearms will now be set at 21, and it will no longer be mandatory to have at least five years of experience in handling smoothbore firearms to acquire rifled firearms. Citizens will also be granted the right to load cartridges for rifled weapons.

It is noteworthy that the new law will come into effect six months after its official publication. Licenses and permits previously granted to citizens will remain valid until their expiration dates.
