These are unacceptable demands for me. This was stated today, October 4, by the MP of the ruling Civil Contract faction, Hovik Aghazaryan, during a press briefing with journalists at the National Assembly. He was referring to the publication by the ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ newspaper, which, citing a credible source, presented the 5 conditions put forth by Azerbaijan.

When asked whether there had been discussions regarding these demands during talks with the Prime Minister, Aghazaryan responded: “In one way or another, there are always discussions, but as such, I am not familiar with a collective document, if of course, it is a document. Such a document is personally unacceptable to me at the very least. Therefore, I believe that the people of Artsakh should also reject such an approach. The zero status of Artsakh and the disbandment of the Artsakh armed forces are unacceptable to me. However, these issues should be addressed by the legally elected authorities of the people of Artsakh, and we, as a state, as a large part of the Armenian people, must do everything to support the realization of the right to self-determination of the Artsakh people.”

Aghazaryan reminded that tomorrow the Prime Minister will come to the parliament and during the Q&A session with the government, these questions can be posed to him: “Address your questions to your opposition colleagues, to your relatives, let them come and ask those questions.”

Recall that the day before, ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ newspaper, citing a credible source, reported that Azerbaijan has 5 main demands from Armenia. These include:
1. Disbandment of the Artsakh Defense Army
2. Recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan without any autonomous status. In other words, with a zero status.
3. A corridor through Armenian territory
4. The demarcation and delimitation process based on maps from 1919 and 1920 (it is still unclear which specific maps are being referred to)
5. Clarification of the fate of missing Azerbaijanis, possibly with the intent of accusing Armenia of war crimes in the future.
