Iran and Azerbaijan Ready to Conduct Joint Exercises Along Common Border
The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, and Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov have expressed their readiness to conduct joint exercises along their common border and welcomed this initiative, reports Tasnim agency.
It is noted that the officials also agreed on the implementation of agreements reached by the joint military commission of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as on improving military cooperation. Additionally, they discussed the recent escalation between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In this context, the Iranian general called for a de-escalation of tensions.
The media reports that Hasanov remarked that the issues between Baku and Yerevan can be resolved through dialogue and friendship, stating that Azerbaijan does not plan to seize Armenian land or initiate military actions to take control of Armenian territories.
