Russian State Duma Unanimously Ratifies Agreements for Joining Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia

The Russian State Duma unanimously ratified four international agreements regarding the incorporation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions into Russia during a plenary session.

It is worth noting that on September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the agreements for the inclusion of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and the incorporation of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions as new subjects of the Russian Federation in the Georgian Hall of the Kremlin.

In his speech preceding the signing, Putin stated that the people had made a clear choice through referendums, and accordingly, agreements would be signed to accept four new territories into the Russian Federation. “This is the will of millions of people,” emphasized Putin.

According to him, the residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions are becoming citizens of Russia permanently. “We will ensure the security of the residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions and help restore the infrastructure. Russia will never betray the residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions,” Putin added.

Earlier, from September 23 to 27, referendums were held in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, regarding the question of joining Russia. According to the results of processing 100% of the ballots in the DPR, 99.23% voted in favor of joining Russia, while in the LPR, the figure was 98.42%, in Kherson, it was 87.05%, and in Zaporizhzhia, 93.11%.
