Global Reactions to the Execution of Armenian Prisoners of War by Azerbaijan

Spanish parliament member Joana Inarritu posted on her Twitter account regarding the execution of Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijani armed forces, sharing a video alongside her remarks.

“Once again, a display of the barbarism of the Azerbaijani regime. And these are the people with whom you’ve signed agreements and consider reliable partners, Mrs. von der Leyen,” wrote Inarritu.

Another member of the Spanish Congress, Anton Gomez-Reino, also commented on the murder of Armenian POWs by Azerbaijani soldiers, stating: “The brutal images of Azerbaijani soldiers executing Armenian POWs are UNACCEPTABLE. It is doubly intolerable to pervert the political power given to you by your gas (during a global famine) to invade and violate human rights.”

Jean-Christophe Buisson, deputy director of the French magazine Le Figaro, tweeted that he had received a horrifying video the previous evening, showing Azerbaijani soldiers executing several Armenian POWs. “I received a horrifying video last night showing how Azerbaijani soldiers conduct executions of several Armenian prisoners of war at close range. This new footage of Azerbaijan's military crimes is being verified by international media and authorities,” wrote Buisson.

Earlier, Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, addressed the viral video of the execution of Armenian captives on Twitter. “Another horrifying video has emerged, apparently depicting the execution of Armenian prisoners of war. If this footage is proven authentic, it constitutes a war crime that must be investigated and the perpetrators punished,” he stated.

It's worth noting that in an interview with Auroranews.am, Armenian Ministry of Defense spokesman Aram Torosyan remarked that there was no doubt about the authenticity of the video, as it reflects a typical modus operandi of the Azerbaijani armed forces. The Armenian Human Rights Defender also confirmed that the incident took place during the large-scale offensive launched by Azerbaijani armed forces against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 13 of this year.
