Previously, the U.S. had refrained from discussing the causes of the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion until an official investigation was conducted. In this context, a Pentagon spokesperson commented on reports of U.S. Air Force helicopters observed near the gas leak site.

Following the sabotage of the two lines of the Nord Stream pipeline, Russia has called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
