Azerbaijan Does Not Want Its Citizens to Interact with Armenian Customs and Border Guard, Says Pashinyan
There must be an agreement on the legal procedures for border crossings between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which would ensure customs and passport control at the border. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a broadcast on Public Television.
“Azerbaijan does not raise objections at the working level regarding all this. They only say that because the situation is tense, they do not want their citizens to interact with Armenian customs and border guards. Naturally, we do not want Armenian citizens to interact with customs and border guards either,” Pashinyan noted.
He added that there is an option for Russian border guards to be stationed at the border, for example. According to the Prime Minister, if there are no Russian border guards on the Azerbaijani side, then the principle would also be violated in that case.
