Samvel Hovsepyan, Acting Mayor of Berd, Arrested

Samvel Hovsepyan, the Acting Mayor of Berd, has been arrested. The police informed Yerevan.Today that Hovsepyan was summoned for questioning at the Berd police station today, then arrested and transferred to the Ijevan Investigative Committee.

It is presumed that his arrest is related to a criminal case initiated for interfering in the electoral process.

The current mayor of Berd, Harutyun Manucharyan, has been in custody since last year. He was re-elected to his position from prison on September 25, defeating the candidate from the ruling Civil Contract party.
