Finland to Close Borders to Russian Citizens
Finland is set to close its borders to Russian citizens, reports AP.
“The decision is primarily aimed at completely halting Russian tourism to Finland and transit through Finnish territory,” said Finland's Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto. Entry for family visits, work, and study will continue to be allowed.
The government justified its decision by stating that the ongoing arrival of Russian tourists poses a risk to the country's international relations, without specifying how and with whom.
Since September 1, Finland has reduced the number of visas issued to Russian citizens, including those for tourism purposes.
