Decision Made to Pursue Case Against Melikset Poghosyan's Son Until the End
The daily newspaper ‘Joghavorot’ reports that after 1.5 years, the investigative body has decided to continue the criminal case against Melikset Poghosyan's son, an advisor to the Minister of Defense and former governor of Syunik.
According to the information we have received, the investigation has been concluded, and the case has been sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General for approval and forwarding to court. The ball is now in the prosecutor's court; we will see what decision the prosecutor will make.
It is worth reminding that Melikset Poghosyan's son and associates of former governor Surik Khachatryan were able to reach an agreement and settle their differences. Furthermore, the investigative body did not conduct any confrontation with the parties involved, and the conclusion of the investigation was announced in this situation.
As is known, gunfire erupted in the city of Goris late in the evening of July 15, 2021, resulting in an injury to one of the individuals close to former governor Surik Khachatryan, who was subsequently transported to Yerevan. It later became known that the focal point of the gunfire was Melikset Poghosyan's son, Karen Poghosyan, as the associates of former governor Surik Khachatryan and Melikset Poghosyan's son had old grievances.
