Five Parents of Fallen Soldiers to Be Recognized as Victims Following Violence During Arrests at 'Yerablur'
At the 'Yerablur' military pantheon, the parents of soldiers who fell during the 44-day war, and who were forcibly detained by police officers, are being recognized as victims within the framework of a criminal investigation. Currently, the interrogation of Ms. Gohar, the mother of the missing soldier Arayik Baghdasaryan, is ongoing in the Department for the Investigation of Crimes Committed by Abuse of Power and Violence by Officials.
Attorney Vahan Hovhannisyan stated in an interview with 'Pastinfo' that the victims report the circumstances under which they received physical injuries in their testimonies, noting that there was no legal basis or grounds for the police to demand them to leave 'Yerablur'. They were sitting quietly when they approached and detained them without any explanation, during which they sustained multiple injuries.
“Moreover, we are currently interrogating Ms. Gohar, who even has a tear, a scratch, and a wound on her hand,” said Hovhannisyan.
By the investigator's decision, a forensic medical examination has been scheduled for today. Tomorrow, the victims will also present for the examination. However, considering that the interrogations of the victims may take several days, the parents of the fallen soldiers, who were harmed by police actions, sought medical attention immediately after the incident, where their physical injuries were recorded. During interrogation, the parents described the police officers, who are also clearly visible in the videos.
In total, five parents, who suffered physical injuries during their detention, are expected to be recognized as victims in this criminal case and have filed a report regarding the incident.
