Japan's Foreign Ministry Demands Apology from Russia over Consul's Arrest in Vladivostok

Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Mikhail Galuzin to present a protest regarding the arrest of the consul in Vladivostok. According to Коммерсант, the department head Yoshimasa Hayashi stated that the diplomat did not engage in any illegal activities and called for an apology from Moscow.

It is noteworthy that the consul is currently at liberty and is required to leave Russia by September 28. Earlier, Russia's FSB announced the arrest of Japan's consul in Vladivostok, who is accused of espionage. The FSB's statement highlighted that the agency had thwarted a spying operation by Motoki Tatsunori, the consul of Japan's consulate general in the Primorsky Krai region.
