Video: Situation at Upper Lars
Recently, record queues have formed at the Upper Lars checkpoint for 2022. Georgian media report that the lines of cars coming from the Russian Federation have reached an enormous length, extending beyond 15 kilometers, with the checkpoint operating under extreme overload. This is also corroborated by open data from the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
In the backdrop of the partial mobilization declared in Russia on September 21, the traffic jam on the Russian side of the border has stretched nearly 15 kilometers.
It is worth noting that today a Russian armored vehicle was spotted near the border with Georgia. The South Ossetian border service informed RBC: 'The armored vehicle is moving there, but it is not moving to establish a checkpoint; it is, to put it bluntly, a reserve only in case the reserve forces wish to break through the checkpoint and leave the country without any border formalities. This is for this purpose only. No checkpoints will be established.'
