Video: Russians Attempting to Cross at Lars Allowed to Walk
In North Ossetia, near the border with Georgia, approximately 3,500 vehicles have accumulated. This information has been reported by the press service of the region's head and government.
“Another 800 vehicles are waiting to cross the borders of Kabardino-Balkaria and the Republic of Ingushetia,” the statement said.
Russians attempting to cross the Russia-Georgia border have been allowed to pass on foot at the Lars checkpoint. Officially, the Lars checkpoint is not designated for pedestrian crossing. This measure has been taken to reduce the massive traffic jams.
Currently, a new line is forming at the checkpoint for those wishing to cross the border without a vehicle. The passage by foot is primarily open for women and children.
