I Was the First to Say That Armenia Has Surrendered: Ter-Petrosyan

There are no two neighboring states in the world that do not have a peace treaty. Yes, this is a surrender agreement; even more powerful countries than us have been subjected to surrender. I was the first to say that Armenia has surrendered...

Hasn't Japan been humiliated, subjected to surrender? What is there to discuss? This was not our desire, circumstances have led us to this point. This was stated by former Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan during a public broadcast.

Regarding Russia's role, the former president mentioned that relations with Russia would be much more normal and constructive if it weren't for the new reality of the Russia-Ukraine war, which has muddled everything.

“A more dangerous situation has been created for us. Russia had a role here and has always played it; if the process has been frozen for 30 years, Russia was the main actor,” he said.

According to him, the issue of Artsakh has already been resolved: “I apologize, I do not want to discourage people, not in the sense that it has been resolved, but Armenia has no longer any say on the Artsakh issue, Armenia no longer plays a role in Artsakh. The only thing left is humanitarian aid, construction, and economic recovery. The key was in Russia's hands until this war, but now Russia itself has so many problems that it has lost that key. Now, can you have any expectations from Russia? We are in a very dangerous situation, a situation that hasn't been this dangerous before. It could be said that this crisis is ten times greater than after the Caribbean crisis,” Ter-Petrosyan stated.
