UEFA Recognizes Armenia-Ukraine Match as High-Risk: Who Couldn’t Buy Tickets?

In Yerevan, tickets for the Nations League match between the national teams of Armenia and Ukraine were sold only to citizens of those countries representing their national teams. Hayk Karapetyan, the head of the Public Relations and Media Department of the Football Federation of Armenia, informed Sputnik Armenia about this.

“Tickets were not sold to individuals with foreign passports. Only citizens of Armenia and Ukraine could purchase tickets,” said Karapetyan. According to him, this was done for security reasons, as UEFA had classified the match as high-risk.

The Group B League A match, held in Yerevan on September 24, ended with a score of 5:0 in favor of the visitors.

It is noteworthy that after five rounds, the Armenian national team concludes the standings table of Group A in Division B with three points. Under Kaparros, the team secured a victory against Ireland (1:0) in the first round, after which they lost to Scotland in Glasgow (0:2), Ukraine in Lodz (0:3), and Scotland again in Yerevan (1:4).

On September 27, Joaquín Caparrós' team will play their last Nations League match in Dublin against the Irish national team.
