Turkish and Azerbaijani Defense Ministers Discuss Regional Situation

The heads of the defense agencies of Azerbaijan and Turkey held a phone conversation today, during which they discussed the current situation in the region and prospects for military cooperation.

“Zakir Hasanov presented to Hulusi Akar the decisive actions taken by the Azerbaijani army following the recent provocations from the Armenian side, as well as the measures being undertaken in the field of military development,” stated the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.

According to the statement, Hulusi Akar emphasized that “Turkey supports Azerbaijan and will always be by its side.”

During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on Turkish-Azerbaijani military cooperation.

Earlier today, the Azerbaijani Defense Minister held a meeting at the Central Command Post and instructed subordinates to “be prepared at any moment to promptly and decisively counter any provocation from the Armenian armed forces.”
