Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Sign Agreement to Cease Hostilities
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed an agreement to cease hostilities. This was reported by the RIA Novosti agency.
It should be noted that the situation at the border between the two countries had escalated on September 14. According to the Kyrgyz side, Tajik border guards had penetrated into an area of Kyrgyzstan's Batken region, specifically in the village of Bulak Bashi, and 'captured combat positions.'
In response to a demand to withdraw from the area, Tajik border guards opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The Kyrgyz side reported two wounded servicemen and three injured civilians.
